The charts below show the results of a survey of adult education. The first chart
shows the reasons why adults decide to study. The pie chart shows how people
think the costs of adult education should be shared.
Write a report for a university lecturer, describing the information shown below.
You should write at least 150 words.
The bar chart shows seven reasons why adults decide to study and percentage of each reason held by people who took part in the survey. The two main reasons are interest in subject and gaining qualification, and 40 percent adults gave the first reason and 38 percent the latter one. Another three reasons are helpfulness for current job, improve prospects of promotion and enjoyment of study, and the percentage of the three are 22 percent, 20 percent and 20 percent separately. The last and less important two reasons are need for changing job and meeting people, and people holding them are taking up 12 percent and 9 percent.
The pie chart, below the first one, tells us that how people think the costs of adult education should be shared. In their opinion, taxpayer should pay 25 percent of the total costs, and employer's cost should account for 35 percent. The rest, 40 percent of the whole costs, should be paid by individual.
